The 2019-20 Officers of Council 5357 were installed in a ceremony at the Columbus Club Social Hall on Saturday, June 29, 2019.
Brother Knights and their families met at Nativity Catholic Church in Longwood first. The 30th was a “5th Sunday,” and the Knights and families attend Mass together, alternating between Nativity and All Souls Catholic Church in Sanford. We call this our “Corporate Communion” Mass, and is an opportunity for all the Knights of our Council and their families to sit and pray together in a show of unity and fraternity. Front pews are reserved for us so we can sit together. Our 5th Sunday Corporate Communions are a powerful sign of our fraternal solidarity.
The ceremony for the Installation of Officers was presided by our Worthy District Deputy Robert Wojerski in the presence of wives, children and Brother Knights. At the end of the ceremony, Worthy Grand Knight Len Breehl presented PGK SK Carl von Herbulis with a Lifetime Achievement award for conduct emblematic of a man of the Order of the Knights of Columbus. Carl is a great and honorable man, and his story is worthy of its own blog post.
After the ceremony everyone was invited to enjoy another delicious meal prepared by Chancellor John Rotolo. Brother Phil Lappies was in the house with another great selection of music for dancing. President John Coerper kept us all entertained with activities and events throughout the night. Our KOFC family is a blessing for all of us.
The 2019-20 Fraternal year begins on July 1, and per our GK, it will be a busy one.
All glory be to God!
